Master Program Marine Geosciences
Structure

Mandatory modules of the 1rst year:

  • Master conference (3 CP)
  • Marine field and lab practice (12 CP)

compulsory-elective modules of the 1rst year:
3 out of 6 core subjects offered have to be taken

  • Core subject climate change (2 modules, 15 CP)
  • Core subject marine environmental archives (2 modules; 15 CP)
  • Core subject biogeochemistry (2 modules; 15 CP)
  • Core subject marine resources and geotechnology (2 modules; 15 CP)
  • Core subject sedimentary structures and processes (2 modules; 15 CP)
  • Core subject physics and petrology of the ocean crust (2 modules; 15 CP)

  • Possibility to choose from other master's programs (s. examination regulations)

It is possible to replace one of the three core subjects from the Master`s program Geowissenschaften or by choosing 15 CP from the Master`s programs Environmental Physics or Environmental History. As some courses are partly identical and as it is not allowed to register for the same course twice, some module combinations are prohibited. Prohibited combinations for 2018/19 can be found on the form-sheet for your core subject choice under downloads.

Mandatory modules of the 2nd year:

  • geoscientific project exercise (15 CP)
  • geoscientific research seminar (15 CP)

  • Master thesis (30 CP)
