Bachelor Program Geowissenschaften - Bachelor Thesis

Information on the thesis

During the last bachelor-year students start developing ideas for their Bachelor thesis, usually in close collaboration with a research group at the Department of Geosciences or one of the co-operating research institutions (AWI, MARUM, etc.). Supervised by a course lecturer each student will perform an independent scientific project and prepare a written essay.

The thesis work may be a field study, a laboratory experiment, or a project outside the university, e.g. in collaboration with industry. The thesis preparation also includes literature research, data preparation and interpretation, optional modelling and simulations, and finally the written thesis. The guidelines (see downloads) should be taken into account when composing the work necessarily.

In a final colloquium, the student has to present and defend his or her thesis. The colloquium will last around 45 minutes and should be organized by the student (find a date, reserve a room, lend a beamer).
