Plenty of Room at the Bottom: Unveiling Earth´s Processes at the Nanoscale
Presentation in the frame of the Geo-Colloquium

Our new recruit in the Mineralogy department, Prof. Dr. Oliver Plümper, will introduce himself and his research interests on 11.06.2025 in the geoscientific colloquium. The lecture will start at 12:15 in the Geosciences lecture hall. Mr. Plümper investigates the changes in the Earth´s mineral systems, in particular how fluid-mineral interactions influence the crust and the mantle. Using methods from mineralogy, nanogeoscience and geochemistry, he investigates the dynamics of the Earth system on scales ranging from atomic interactions to large-scale cascading effects. Central research topics of the group are fluid-mineral interactions, nanogeosciences, mineral physics, sustainable earth materials and multiscale imaging.
